What is the difference between drywood and subterranean termites?
Subterranean termites live in soil and travel up into the structure, so they can be treated from the ground with a barrier or a bait system. Drywood termites live entirely inside the wood, need no soil contact, and are often only found through frass or a swarm. They need fumigation or localised wood treatment instead — a soil treatment does nothing to them.
Why do the ants come straight back after a treatment?
Because Argentine ants form super-colonies with many queens spread across multiple properties. Spraying a visible trail kills workers and can split the colony, making it worse. Baiting along the trail lines is what reaches the queens, and it works far better when neighbours treat at the same time.
Do I really need fumigation for drywood termites?
Not always. If the infestation is confined to an accessible area, localised treatment such as foam, borate or heat can work and costs a great deal less. Fumigation becomes the honest answer when the activity is widespread or inaccessible. Get an inspector to show you the evidence for whichever they recommend.
When are mosquitoes worst in California?
